Joel Parnis as Freddy in My Fair Lady

Born and raised in Australia and Asia, Joel Parnis is now based in Berlin, Germany.

In September 2024, Joel made his directorial debut with the hit Off-Broadway musical I Love You Because, at the Theater im Delphi in Berlin, produced by MTB Professional. Announcements regarding future performances coming soon!

During the summer of 2024, Joel performed at the Thunerseespiele in Thun, Switzerland in their production of Mary Poppins. In addition to the ensemble, Joel p[ayed] the roles of Admiral Boom and the Bank Director.

From 2021 to 2024, Joel was a member of the Musical Theatre Ensemble at the National Theatre in Linz, Austria, performing in repertoire. Personal highlights include: the role of Bolkonsk / Andrej in the European premiere production of Natascha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, Frederick Fleet in Titanic the Musical, Count Ipolitov in Anastasia, and performing in the world premiere company of both Die Königinnen (The Queens) and Fanny and Alexander, both of which have original cast albums available on Spotify and various music streaming platforms.

Joel graduated with a BA in Music Theatre from the University of Ballarat Arts Academy in 2010. He has since worked extensively throughout Australia, Asia, and Europe. Additional music theatre credits include: The School of Rock, Catch Me If You Can, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, As It Is in Heaven, The Producers, Chess, Flower Children: The Mamas and the Papas Story, Godspell, and The Pirates of Penzance.

Joel was a swing for over two years in Cameron Mackintosh’s Les Miserables before being cast in My Fair Lady in the role of Freddy. My Fair Lady opened at the Sydney Opera House and was directed by none other than Dame Julie Andrews herself!

Before moving to Germany, Joel toured the UK, Ireland, Germany, and China with Titanic: The Musical. During this time, he also performed for Berlin Musicals in their debut musical production of Songs for a New World as Man 1.
